Canvas Art Styles & Before After

The Oil painting tradition dates back to the 7th century AD, beginning with Buddhist wall paintings in Afghanistan and culminating in the Renaissance and post-Renaissance masterpieces that are still cherished today. We recommend it for portraits and nature photos.

The Modern Art movement encompasses much of the art produced during the late 19th century through the 1970s. Modern artists revolutionized their field with new technologies and techniques. Abstraction reached new heights, with photorealism being less of a priority in the age of photographs. We recommend it for portraits.

The Comic Book style is known for its vibrant posterization. To replicate the handiwork of the famous cartoonists of the 20th century, we digitally extract the lines and colors from your photo and combine them in exciting, dynamic ways. We recommend it for portraits.

The Water Color painting style is a translucent art medium, called aquarelle by the French. The United States has a long tradition with watercolor painting that dates back to the 19th-century Hudson River School. We recommend it for landscape photographs.

The Sketch captures a moment in time without sacrificing the essential elements of detail and color. Allow us to turn your photograph into a stunning snapshot of the moment you’d like to relive in all its exquisite perfection. We recommend it for portraits and photographs with buildings.

The Pencil/Charcoal drawing has preceded many masterworks as a crucial first step in the artistic process, which sometimes does not extend beyond this initial rendering. Although this style is particularly suited for portraits, throughout history a number of these have depicted more complex, multi-figured scenes. We recommend it for portraits as well as building and animal photographs.

Our museum-quality, 1.5″ thick canvases are hand-crafted.

The wood is sourced from sustainable forests.
